The Re-Engaging in Community program pairs participants, who have been homeless and are now living in their own home but are not confident to engage in their new community, with a volunteer buddy.
What a beautiful bunch of United Way WA volunteers to participate for the first time in our Re-Engaging in Community program.
We are proud of them providing support to formerly homeless people to connect in their new community.
Today, the volunteers were able to share their own experiences from the past few months.
It was good and challenging experiences, as a result of which improved the experience for themselves and their buddy.
Following the debrief…
The volunteers went on to make themselves and someone else facing food insecurity a lunch from the HOPE kitchen.
Oh! What a healthy lunch with sandwich with 3 meats and fresh salad!
Taking the time to connect is so important and it helps create a positive and nurturing environment for all involved.
We like to say a huge thank you to Meagan Shand from Befriend Inc for leading the workshop and HOPE Inc for providing the space. Well done!
