Awards Recognition
The annual United Way Award for Outstanding Philanthropy began in 2003 as a way to recognise individuals who were successful personally or in business and who make philanthropy a priority. The award aims to raise the profile of philanthropy.
This year, the award celebrates Mr Malcolm McCusker AO QC's unwavering dedication to and leadership within various charitable causes. Among the charitable work he has undertaken includes: Patron, McCusker Foundation for Alzheimer's Disease Research, Founder of the McCusker Centre for Action on Alcohol and Youth, Patron, WA Institute of Medical Research fundraising campaign and has been extensively involved in the establishment of the Lady McCusker Home - providing 60 high care beds to Alzheimer's patients and the Sir James McCusker Alzheimer's Training Programme.
As part of our goal to unite business, charitable and not for profit organisations in Western Australia, United Way have introduced The Community Partner Award. The award recognises the contribution of an individual whose passion towards their cause has influenced others to collectively make a difference to local communities.
The first person to receive the award is Doug Paling, the CEO and founder of Foodbank WA, Western Australia's leading food distribution organisation. Foodbank WA is the source of 70% of the food needs of Western Australia's community welfare agencies.

2009
In 2009, United Way WA awarded The Philanthropist of the Year to Ros Worthington OAM. Also recognised this year were our Corporate Champions. Each were awarded a certificate for their passion in giving their time to motivate, influence and lead others within their organisation to help make a difference in the local community.
