The Dyslexia-SPELD Foundation established the Boost program to address poor literacy levels amongst children from lower socio-economic backgrounds. Boost gives parents the tools - and confidence - to support their child's literacy development. This will help prevent significant learning difficulties in the classroom that often arise due to low levels of literacy.

This program focused on first aid for children. Participants were able to take advantage of the crèche supplied by Swan Aquatic Leisure Centre for a small fee. The programs were run by St John Ambulance in conjunction with CLAN Midland.
Health and Nutrition
United Way WA and CLAN Midland identified the need to provide families with basic health and nutrition information and advice as part of their Community Impact Strategy.
The organisations worked together to create an eight-week program called ''Health and Nutrition for Happy Families'' to help families enjoy a healthier lifestyle. The goal was to alter the participants' outlook on food by providing practical cooking ideas and the support they needed to make changes at home.
