Annual Grants
We are working to create change by carefully
selecting all Community Partners based on what actually works in
grass roots communities. This work is done with objectivity
because United Way is not bound by political or religious
alliances. Each of our programs is evaluated to make sure the
outcomes match expectations. Put simply our expertise is matching
people who want to make a difference with people who are making a
difference.
Drawing first on the experiences of the global United Way
movement, our focus is on the basic needs for a good life -
education, income and health. Education is essential to
getting and keeping a job to live independently. An adequate
income to pay for life's necessities and save for the future
provides families with some sense of financial stability.
Access to quality health care keeps children on track in school and
adults productive at work. If any of these elements are
missing, the others are compromised.
In 2011 we will be working colaboratively with the following
organisations to target problems in the City of Swan area:
- City of Swan Council
- CLAN (Community Links & Networks)
- Beacon Foundation
- Dyslexia Speld Foundation
